This term the Preps have begun learning Japanese with Nickeas Sensei. They have been very keen learners, singing our Greetings song with ‘Kenny the Koala’ and introducing themselves to a partner – e.g. “Konnichi wa. Watashi wa Tom desu.” (Hello. My name is Tom)
Sensei has enjoyed speaking to them individually in Japanese too.
Ohayou – Good Morning
Konnichi wa – Hello
Sayounara – Goodbye
Konban wa – Good evening
Congratulations and a huge ‘BAGUS’ to our fantastic four Indonesian students who presented at our final whole school assembly for Term 2. ‘Terima kasih’ (Thank you) to Ibu Vine for her help with Indonesian pronunciation and putting the presentation together.

In Term 2, our Year 5 students worked hard to learn their self-introduction in Japanese. Congratulations to everyone on their great efforts – I was so proud of you all. Minasan, yoku dekimashita!

Students learning how to describe their family with Dromana SC teacher Bronwyn Harder (Sensei)
Dromana SC teacher Stewart (Pak) Matulis
Mt Martha Primary School students are fortunate again to have the opportunity to learn languages with the collaboration of Dromana Secondary College. Our Year 6 students have enjoyed learning Japanese with Harder Sensei and Indonesian with Pak Matulis via video-link every fortnight. As well as being exposed to the language and culture of Japan and Indonesia, our Dromana College teachers have reinforced the opportunities for our students who continue learning languages into Secondary College and beyond.
